Why July Is Not the Time to Panic as an Education Consultant

Why July Is Not the Time to Panic as an Education Consultant

If you're an education consultant staring at your calendar in July wondering where all the school administrators went, you're not alone.

July can feel surprisingly quiet. Emails sit unanswered. Decision-makers seem to disappear. It's easy to start questioning everything about your business.

You might find yourself thinking:

  • Maybe my offer isn't good enough.

  • Maybe schools don't need my services.

  • Maybe I've already missed my chance to book contracts this year.

Here's the truth:

July is not the time to panic. It's the time to stay steady.

Silence Doesn't Mean "No"

July is a unique month in education.

Some administrators are finally taking a well-earned vacation after a demanding school year. Others are buried in hiring, scheduling, budgeting, and preparing campuses for teachers to return.

Many simply aren't prioritizing vendor emails.

One of the most important mindset shifts you can make is remembering this:

A lack of response is not the same as a lack of interest.

One, two, or even three unanswered emails do not mean your business is failing.

As my husband Chris often reminds me:

"You may see them as your top priority, but you are not theirs."

That isn't personal. It's reality.

School leaders have dozens of competing priorities, and your timing may simply not line up with theirs today.

Back-to-School Isn't Your Only Opportunity

One of the biggest myths I hear from education consultants is:

"If I don't book back-to-school professional development, I've missed my chance for the year."

That's simply not true.

Is back-to-school a wonderful opportunity to get your foot in the door? Absolutely.

But schools need support all year long.

In fact, many districts don't fully recognize their biggest challenges until the school year is underway.

Once students return, administrators begin identifying needs like:

  • Student behavior challenges

  • Instructional gaps

  • Classroom management concerns

  • Leadership development

  • Teacher coaching opportunities

Those challenges create new consulting opportunities throughout the year.

This is also why I teach consultants to build framework-based partnerships instead of relying solely on one-day professional development sessions.

Many of my own consulting contracts never included a large staff training.

Instead, I worked directly with teacher cohorts, instructional teams, or school leaders over several months.

Those ongoing partnerships often created even greater impact.

Stay Consistent While Others Disappear

July is often when consultants unintentionally disappear.

They stop posting.

They stop networking.

They stop marketing because they assume no one is paying attention.

That creates an opportunity for you.

Consistency builds trust.

Even if administrators aren't responding today, they're still noticing who continues to provide valuable ideas and helpful resources.

Showing up consistently helps you remain top of mind when they are finally ready to hire.

Make LinkedIn a Priority

One of the best places to stay visible during July is LinkedIn.

Continue posting consistently.

Comment on administrators' posts.

Share practical strategies that help schools solve current problems.

Right now, for example, many administrators are thinking about setting the school year up for success before teachers return.

Create content that speaks directly to those challenges.

Remember:

You're not creating content only for today.

You're building familiarity over time so that when an administrator needs support, your name is already familiar.

Strengthen Your Business Behind the Scenes

July is also the perfect time to work in your business.

Normally, I encourage consultants to spend more time working on business development activities.

But during slower seasons, this is your opportunity to strengthen your foundation.

Ask yourself:

  • Is my website current?

  • Is my email list growing?

  • Does my lead magnet reflect what I actually sell?

  • Are my landing pages converting visitors?

  • Is my email funnel working?

  • Do my systems make running my business easier?

These projects become much harder once the school year is in full swing.

Take advantage of the slower pace now.

Create Marketing That Keeps Working

Instead of worrying about today's unanswered emails, create marketing assets that will continue working for you for months.

This is a great time to:

  • Batch LinkedIn articles

  • Write blog posts

  • Schedule social media content

  • Record podcast episodes

  • Create email newsletters

  • Develop valuable resources for your audience

Every piece of content you publish becomes another opportunity for future clients to discover you.

Marketing compounds over time.

Protect Your Mindset

Your mindset may be your most valuable business asset this month.

Our brains naturally want to connect silence with failure.

Don't let them.

Silence usually means people are busy, not that they aren't interested.

Instead, focus on what you can control:

  • Showing up consistently

  • Serving your audience well

  • Improving your systems

  • Building relationships

  • Taking the next right step

Those actions move your business forward whether your inbox is full today or not.

Keep Planting Seeds

Building a successful education consulting business isn't about finding one magical month when everyone says yes.

It's about planting seeds consistently.

Some schools will hire you for August.

Others won't reach out until October.

Some may follow your content for six months before contacting you in January.

The consultants who build sustainable, profitable businesses aren't always the fastest.

They're the ones who remain consistent when everyone else starts doubting themselves.

Don't Forget to Rest

One final reminder:

Enjoy your summer.

Work shorter days for a few weeks.

Block off time with your family and friends.

Give your brain a chance to recharge before the school year ramps up again.

Rest isn't a distraction from growing your business.

It's part of building one that lasts.

Wondering What's Actually Holding Your Business Back?

If July has you questioning whether you're focusing on the right things, don't guess.

Every education consultant has strengths.

Every consulting business also has revenue leaks.

Sometimes it's your positioning.

Sometimes it's your messaging.

Sometimes it's your offer, sales process, or simply knowing what deserves your attention next.

The challenge is that many consultants spend months trying to fix the wrong problem.

That's exactly why I created the Education Consultant Revenue Leak Assessment™.

This assessment helps education consultants identify the biggest obstacles slowing business growth and provides a personalized roadmap for moving forward.

After completing the assessment, you'll receive:

  • A personalized diagnostic report highlighting your strengths and growth opportunities

  • A clear picture of the revenue leaks affecting your business

  • Your top three priorities to focus on next

  • A private 20-minute debrief with me to review your results and answer your questions

For a limited time, I'm offering Founder Pricing for $97 (regularly $147).
